Teaching and Learning Capital Fund – Vocational Education and Training (TLCF VET): Investing in Community, Education and Training (ICET).
ICET funding is part of the Australian Governments Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training TLCF (VET). ICET is designed to support the Australian economy through the building of educational infrastructure. As a consequence training facilities are modernized and the quality of teaching and learning is greatly improved across the training sector. The TLCF (VET) will provide $500 million during the 2009-2010 financial year.
Break Thru applied for ICET funding through its Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and were successful in obtaining $244,643.00 to upgrade 10 new and one existing training sites, located at Wyong, The Entrance, Toukley, Wallsend, Maitland, Penrith, Mt Druitt, Liverpool, Aitkenvale, Woodridge and Preston.
The ICET funding gives Break Thru the fantastic opportunity to enhance accessibility to training for a range of job seekers with disability. Other benefits of ICET include additional resources and increasing cross-service cooperation with facilities available for all Break Thru jobseekers.
The upgrade to training rooms include new computers, furniture (including ergonomic furniture), assistive technology and learning software. These new resources enable targeted vocational and employability skills training for people with physical or learning difficulties, educationally disadvantaged students and people from indigenous or culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The upgrade is now complete and training has commenced. The official launch of the ICET resources occurred on 11th February 2010, please follow the link below for more details.
ICET is a realisation of a Break Thru goal to provide state of the art training facilities that are accessible to all jobseekers.
