Australian Government Services
Break Thru believes the employment of people with disadvantages is not an act of charity,
it is good business sense. Our staff works hard to support people looking for jobs to build skills and confidence
that will assist them in securing real jobs. Break Thru believe work is fundamental to living a fulfilling and
productive life and a job enables everyone to play a significant and valued role in the life of their communities.
We deliver a unique integrated service delivery model. People with disabilities and other disadvantages have access
to a range of programs that best match their unique support needs. The Disability Employment Services (DES) provides
job seekers with disability, injury or health condition with access to individually tailored employment services
better suited to our job seekers needs. Job Services Australia (JSA) is about providing simplified processes and
streamlined services, to give our job seekers increased flexibility and access to support and services that are
relevant to their individual circumstances.

Services we offer
> Job Services Australia (JSA):
Job Services Australia is funded by the Department of Education,
Employment and Workplace Relations
(DEEWR) to provide FREE services to job seekers and employers. Job Services Australia provides one
to one or group based assistance in prevocational skilling, overcoming barriers to employment, job
search and limited post placement support for job seekers and a job matching service for employers
with job vacancies.
> Disability Employment Services (DES) operates under two programs:
> Disability Management Service (DMS):
Disability Management Service provides assistance for those job
seekers who are not expected to need regular, long-term support to maintain their job.
Disability Management Services assists job seekers with injuries, a disability or
health condition that substantially reduces their capacity to look for & keep a job.
We combine vocational rehabilitation with specialist employment assistance aimed
specifically at working to increase a job seeker’s functional levels & ultimately,
their participation in a job.
> Employment Support Service (ESS):
Employment Support Services (ESS) provides assistance for job seekers who will need regular
long-term support to maintain their job. Employment Support Services also includes specialist assistance and services
to people with a disability who require ONGOING support to help find and maintain open employment. Our Specialist
staff provides short-term pre-vocational assessment and job seeking, marketing to employers, on-the-job assessment &
support and ongoing support once placed in a job. Disability Employment Service (DES) is also funded by the Department
of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).
> Transition to Work (TTW):
TTW
provides employment and community access support to school leavers with high
support needs. TTW is funded by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and
Home Care (DADHC).
> Community Participation (CP):
The Community Participation
program aims to assist young people with a disability to develop the skills they
need to work towards their goals, increase their independence and participate as
valued and active members in the community.
> Get Set for Work (GSFW): Get Set for Work program is funded
by the QLD Department of Employment and Industrial Relations and specifically
targets 15-17 year olds who are early school leavers or who are at risk of
leaving school early. GSFW responds to participants' needs by putting in place
strategies to overcome barriers to employment and further education/training.
The program delivers
pre-vocational training, literacy and numeracy support, job conditioning (eg
routines, nutrition and physical fitness) as well as job search, job placement
and on-the-job support and monitoring.

>
CARE for Families(CFF): Break Thru understands that it is often
families, carers and friends who provide the bulk of support and assistance
to people with a mental illness. The goals of this program are:
- To provide support, education and counselling to assist families in their support role,
- To enhance family relationships, coping strategies and communication,
- To improve the wellbeing and functioning of the entire family,
- To assist the family in working together with mental health service providers to achieve recovery goals,
- To support children, adults and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
> Adult Community, Social and Educational Support Service (ACSESS) :
We deliver a person centred integrated service delivery model to adults with an intellectual disability.
People with disabilities and other disadvantages have access to a range of programs that best match
their individual support needs.
> Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) :
Our Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) is about increasing Indigenous Australians employment outcomes
and participation in economic activities. Break Thru is committed to reduce the gap between Indigenous
and non-Indigenous employment outcomes.
> Indigenous Leadership and Engagement Panel (ILEP) :
We deliver Indigenous Leadership Programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities throughout
NSW, QLD and VIC. We encourage participants to become leaders within their community.
> Life Choices:
"Life Choices" targets people aged 25 – 54 who do not currently have a day program. The program provides:
> Purposeful age appropriate daytime activities matched to skills and interests of individuals
> Support to pursue individual interests and age appropriate social relationships
> Opportunities for community inclusion and participation e.g. volunteering
> Healthy lifestyles and leisure and recreational activities

> Training:
We create an inclusive and positive learning environment by providing support to students with innovative
teaching techniques. (Available at Blacktown, Townsville, Wallsend, Woodridge and Wyong

> Links 2 Learning:
Links to Learning specialises in helping young people facing barriers to education & employment,
relying upon support from referrals within the local community. (Central Coast only)
> Active & Ageing Program:
This aims to respond to the needs and interests of older people aged 55 - 64
(and people with early onset ageing), providing age-appropriate daytime leisure,
recreation and social activities, flexible service options, support to make the
transition to an active older life, opportunities for community inclusion and
participation, including mainstream seniors involvements and support to build and
maintain networks of support.
> Post School Options (PSO):
This is the original program for school leavers with disabilities. It assists students in their goals
for independence, skills development, integration into the community and social participation.
> Stronger Together Day Programs:
To assist people with a disability to achieve their goals, increase their independence and participate
as valued and active members of the community. These services can also offer families and carers
a break from their caring responsibilities. (only available at Dubbo & Dunrossil visit

> Links to Learning (L2L) on the webpage:
Links to Learning supports young people aged 15 to 24 years who experience barriers to participating in mainstream education and/or employment. The program focuses on effective transitions for young people at risk.
L2L is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Communities to improve outcomes for young people.
